Mini-Frame
—————————————————
Author: razcle Download Map: – Authors Map Description –< Commander, you have been assigned to "Project Laptop" – (named after some kind of ancient, silicon based, calculating device) – the Engineers have been tight-lipped, only saying "Intel Inside" and snickering, when asked about the Mini-Frame. > < Your expertise is required to establish an effective defence for the Mini-Frame. These units will recieve and process data from the MainFrame. Each of these Mini-Frames will be the brains for a cluster of six Big MACs. They will be responsible for initial target acquisition and the co-ordinated aiming and fire control instructions for the MACs. > < Congratulations Commander – The MainFrame is under construction again – one of the most important parts of the Solar Defence Grid. Progress on the SDG is plodding forward, as fast as the bureaucratic "sand in the gears" will allow. These Mini’s are part of the progress. > < Commander – School children from around the world are sending you packets of text data, asking questions and wishing you well. High Command has deemed this to be an un-neccesary distraction and assigned a team of (propaganda) writers to reply to each of these packets. Since "you" have been answering every message with a "personal" response your popularity has soared. Several schools have petitioned to be renamed, in your honour. > < Enclosed is a sample of some of the texts and "your" responses. ( I thought you should know what you are texting.) > < ps. A collector offered my son a ridiculous amount of credits, in exchange for the card that you signed for him. I was shocked, ( and secretly proud ) when my son, quite rudely, stuck out his tongue and blew a raspberry, then walked out! >
– this map plays differently than MainFrame, ( despite the perceived similarity )and will provide a solid challenge * – please re-download if you do not have v2 -* enjoy 🙂 |

Nice map, love the design.
Hi
I’m having problems on this and some other maps…….towards the end of story mode (or any other mode) when the screen gets very busy, it stutters and crashes to desktop. I’m running a pc with an AMD FX8350, 16Gb RAM. 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Any ideas why this is happening please?
Regards
Gavin
I was running very similar and having problems and I replaced the graphics card GeForce GTX 1050 Ti for a new GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and put in a new power supply and never had a problem since and that was about 1 year ago.
It might be you hardware needs a freshen up not necessarily more power.
Also make sure you have a good cooling system and at the very least keep it blown out from dust as if it heats up too much you will get crashes all the time.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the reply……cleaned the pc…..actually wasn’t too bad…..ran an overheating test…..can’t work it out!
I’m sorry to say that overheating is not the problem. I ran the game in window mode on very low resolution (after reinstalling it) and with temperature monitoring on. Even though the temperature was much lower than usual it still crashed towards the end. I have a Geforce 1060 6GB card and an I7-7700HQ processor and I run all new top games on high settings with no problems. This is an old game which does not demand as much from the system as newer games and it still crashes. I think this is a bug in the implementation which for some reason occurs more often on some systems. I have been playing this game on three very different computers and they all have been suffering from this problem. The strange thing is that my newest and most powerful machine is by far the worst.
I have tried many different actions and none have helped. I keep my drivers up to date and the only common factor of my three machines is that they have Intel CPUs and NVIDIA graphics.
Thanks for the help and for all the nice maps

Thanks for your reply anst
I suppose I just have one of those systems……although mine is AMD and NVIDEA
The game is crashing on my new computer with an sli of 1080ti and 32gb of ram wathever resolution and quality, so it is not a problem of power or heat.
What I found is the game don’t like more than 8 cores even 4 is better I think, my last cpu was a 4 cores and it worked better, I had freeze but no crashes.
You could try to disable hyperthreading or whatever name it has on amd to lower the cores number, in my case it crashes less.
Good news for those , like me, who struggles with the game crashing all the time !
I removed all the custom maps and only installed a few and it seems that the crashes have disappeared.
This might be because some buggy map created the problems or that I had too many. I have downloaded all maps I could find so I have a few
I also moved the game files in steam from my D drive back to the C drive but I don’t think this fixed anything since I’ve tried it before.
I have now played three big maps without a crash and before I usually couldn’t even start a map so this is a big difference.
I have seen before that a buggy map might cause DG2 to crash so perhaps this was the reason. I plan at some time to try to find out which by installing half the maps and see if the bug appears and so on.
So if you have problems with the game crashing, try to rename the C:\Users\\Documents\DG2 folder and create a new. Then just install f.ex. new maps that you want to try and perhaps some favourites and see if this helps.
I will copy this message to the comment section of some more maps so hopefully everybody will see it. If this works for anybody else (or not) please leave a message here.
Best regards

Everything works fine for me. Great map, good score finally 🙂 Thanks
I like this map very much, its a good challange.
I am sorry, but a bug was found on the map …… one tile position on each side would not behave – the program would let you build on it, the towers would shoot fine, but the aliens would walk right through it,
i could not figure out why this was happening ….. so by removing the option to build towers in those two spots and replacing the tiles with walk-able tiles – the map works
i would like to know what was happening, so i can fix it ( if possible ) rather than provide a work-around
– thank you McB for finding and reporting the bug 🙂
i found the problem …… it was the mega door turned on its side, again
i suggested that map makers avoid using it, then went ahead and used it again, myself, – doh!
i apologize to those that will have to download the new version
Awesome map with lots of options, thanks heaps for all your efforts.
